Fleeting Thoughts

Oh, what the heck! Of becoming visible

Good morning!

Over the past 6 months I have taken courses and visited seminars, I have worked on my website, I got business cards and printed flyers. I have taken steps to become visible.

Becoming visible. That's the biggest challenge. Not just showing myself in the dark abyss of the word wide web.

Helllllooooo!! Is anybody out there?  And if yes, could you please be kind?

I am asking you: Don't you find it scary coming out here? Out into the cold, silent darkness of the unknown?  Social Media, where hoards of ugly little trolls wait behind every corner, ready to jump on you? Ready to rip you apart and to destroy you if you express an opinion that is different to theirs? I do read the headlines, you know.
As you might have gathered, I am not very active on social media, even though everybody tells me I need to be. How else am I going to get customers? I need to think about that.
In the meantime I thought I'd share my fleeting thoughts in a blog. Maybe that's a compromise. Time will tell.

Could you please be kind?

Kindness. A big but quiet word these days. Kindness makes a difference of opinions so much easier to accept. If you are not sure what I mean, think in terms of the Golden Rule and treat others, as you would like to be treated.

But do you know  how you would you like to be treated? Do you feel comfortable telling others, when they are not treating you in an acceptable way? What does acceptable mean to you? Have you ever questioned your beliefs about what is acceptable and what is not?
Do you feel good about how you are being treated? Do you feel good about the way you are treating others?

We always have a choice
OK, wait. I will talk about my experiences, and maybe you can relate:

I learned that I always have a choice. I didn't learn that as a kid. I copied what I was shown by the adults in my life and thought that to be the truth.  I lived accordingly and along the way I got scared of everything and everybody.

I lived in ways that, deep down, didn't feel right to me. I wasn't honest to myself or the people around me.  As a result I went into hiding. But as we know: You can run, but you can't hide. I came to a point that made me willing to try a different way of living.

And here I am, thinking, "Oh what the heck, just do it!" I am becoming visible, showing myself, no longer scared of trolls. What other people do or say says a lot about them, it doesn't say anything about me.

I have a choice today. I choose to let go of my fears. I learned that. And you can too.

Hi, my name is Pia Hyppönen. I have a colourful past, had different jobs since I was 18. I learned something on all of them, but never stayed long enough to have a career.
My business idea started with  a name: Holistication (a kind of acronym of my Holistic view on life and my M. A. in Lifelong Learning and Adult Education.)
In the summer of 2021, I moved to Joensuu and looked for a job. The question "What can you do?" got me thinking and I decided to put all the things I love into one basket: lifelong learning, drama, language, encouraging and empowering people, et voilà - Dramatic Language Coaching. The one thing I didn't know anything about was "business". In the past that (not knowing something) would have stopped me. This time I took business courses, visited seminars and started listening  to those who know more about the topic.

Over the past 25 years I have gotten rid of my fear of making mistakes, I became teachable and open to new ways of living my life. If I could do it, you can do it too. And if you can't yet, I'll be happy to help you.

None of us is going to get out alive. But until then we can have a life.

    My mottos:
Be true to yourself. Love what you do. Do what you love. Today.

Nothing in life is set in stone, once it is, I'm six feet under.
